Project Bramble

Working title

Our first title is Project Bramble. An expansive, story focused role playing game (RPG) set in the same world as Critter Cards.

We are targeting release on PC, and then consoles.

World & Tone

Project Bramble will take you on an epic adventure in a fantasy woodland, long after the events in the Lore.

In this age, there are vast continents of Critters living alongside one another in civilisation. There are grand cities, lush forests, and deep dungeons. It is a full, living world.

This is a world of high fantasy. Spells, swords, arrows, daggers - anything sharp and pointy is probably here. Expect an epic, classic fantasy adventure.

The game will have a uniquely British tone. You may be told to "piss off!" by a cheeky fox who has had one too many ales. Humour and ridiculousness will be central in Project Bramble.

We are focusing heavily on colourful, interesting characters. Each have their own stories and personalities, from a valiant but egotistical squirrel knight, to a bitter hedgehog school teacher!

Features

  • A powerful story. Stories are what make RPGs great. We are committed to telling a powerful and engaging narrative.

  • Choice. We will give players choice in how they go about many things in the world, including quests. This will often lead to very different outcomes.

  • Reactivity and micro-reactivity. Characters in the world will react to what you do. This might be the choices you make, how you play the game, or your questionable outfit - if you show up to church in your birthday suit, the priest may have a stern word or two! We are using the same dialogue tooling as Disco Elysium (Game of the Year 2019).

  • A living world. Characters in the world will have schedules and roles. They will go about their day whether or not they are bothered by you.

  • Fun gameplay. There will be varied gameplay to accommodate different types of players, combat and non-combat! We want the game to be accessible for many.

  • Localisation. We have already built in a robust localisation system, and will localise based on Steam wishlists by region. We want to bring this world to as many people as we can.

  • A full world. While the main loop will be whimsical quests with meaningful choice, there will be lots of fun activities to do, skills to master, and collectables to find in the wider world.

Art Style

Project Bramble will feature a beautiful pixel art world. We are looking to invoke a feeling of nostalgic charm, mixing the old and the new.

The art direction will reflect that of a British fairytale. A woodland world of whimsical fantasy!

Our first hire will be a talented and experienced art director to bring this to life!

Key Inspirations

Although there is nothing like Project Bramble, we are inspired by:

  • The quest depth and choice in the Witcher 3.

  • The living world and warmth of Stardew Valley.

  • The uniquely British charm of Fable 2 and Pratchett's Discworld novels.

Project Bramble will only be release ready when it stands on the shoulders of these giants.

Hopefully you can tell that this is a true passion project for us.

We love RPGs, fantasy, games and NFTs. The chance to build one of our own is a life long dream, and we will stop at nothing until Project Bramble is compelling in all aspects.

There is no game like this out there, and we are deeply passionate about bringing it to life and releasing it into the wild once it is ready. It is our life's work.
